Judy Yagoda Shagam hosted a very educational studio visit giving us an opportunity to gain an appreciation and understanding of her diverse interests as a scientist and accomplished printmaker. Both of these passions provide her the ability to use both sides of her brain, honoring her endless curiosity and compulsion to problem-solve. Her years of printmaking, exhibitions throughout the world, and opportunity to enjoy community continue to feed her soul. Her works are both intriguing and organically stunning. After many years of not being able to explain her diversity of interests, she now flourishes in it all.
Our time with Marissa Fassano, Gallery Director of the Tamarind Institute, was rich and educational. Having the chance to take in the history, architecture, gallery and get up close and personal in the basement studios was fascinating. We all learned so much about printmaking, and had a chance to see some of the outstanding works that have been created by the artists that have traveled across the country to be a part of this institution and its master printmakers. It was inspiring to learn what a respected institution Tamarind is and how it has been and continues to be instrumental in making New Mexico a respected place of printmaking.
Thank you for a terrific day!
