Artist Registry Update
The Artist Registry is a benefit of membership in the New Mexico State Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. This gives you a page on our website to showcase your art. You can participate if you’re an active NMC member and resident of NM.
We recommend you prepare your text, links, images, titles, descriptions, and sizes in advance to complete the form in one session.
Below is a checklist for preparing materials for your page. Clink on the “+” to expand the description. If you still have questions after reviewing the FAQ, email the Registry directly before submitting your form.
Our volunteers work hard to check spelling, grammar, and so on — we’ll get in touch if we have questions. It always helps if you double-check text yourself before submitting.
STATEMENT: 1500 CHARACTERS MAX.
Explain why you create this kind or art, what inspires you, what your art signifies or represents, and what you intend it to communicate. Explain your artistic process of any special techniques that you use.
BIO: 1500 CHARACTERS MAX.
Your bio should be a brief overview of your background and career. Please don’t post a resume or CV with lists of exhibitons and awards – most visitors won’t read it.
Write as if you were speaking to someone in person. Your passion for creating will come across!
IMAGES
Shoot 2D work straight on. Please crop to the edge of the work and exclude borders or frames.
3D work should be shot against a neutral background.
Video artists, performance artists, musicians and writers – please submit a performance still or book cover.
Needed Images:
- Artist portrait (at least 300px wide)
- Artist card (square, at least 400px wide)
- Up to 3 images of your work including title, media, and size information
Files:
- File Type: jpg
- Size: 1500 pixels long edge, compressed to about 500 kb. The registry is happy to help you trouble shoot if you do not know how to do this. Feel free to reach out to us before submitting your work.
- File naming: Your files will be automatically renamed, so no need to have any special titles.
ARTWORK TITLE & DESCRIPTION
This information is displayed when the viewer hovers over a thumbnail or views an enlarged image.
- Title: No quotes and with initial capitals (i.e.: Picture at Hanging Rock.)
- Size: Please do not mix units of measure. 3D: height x width x depth. 2D: height x width. (i.e.: 18” x 36” for a painting, 18” x 20”x 6” for a sculpture.)
- Media: One line listing of materials. (i.e: watercolor, ink, pastel on paper). If you want to further describe the work or concepts, your artist statement should be used.
